Connections to Shanghai/Airport
From Suzhou
to Shanghai
There are numerous
trains leaving for Shanghai daily. However, the travel time
varies between 45 minutes to one and a half hours. There are
also different train prices, varying from 15 yuans (for the
slow train and hard seat) to 22 yuans (for a deluxe train
and soft seat). If you are planning to go to Shanghai for
the weekend, it is a good idea to buy the tickets in advance
because the train station is really crowded during weekends.
It will be hard to get a seat on the train.
Try to buy tickets
on a T-train. These are the fastest and most comfortable trains.
However, at 22 yuans for a soft seat, it is also the most
expensive. K-trains are also fast and comfortable. As it is
almost impossible to get a detailed train schedule, it is
best to go the ticket office. Normally trains leave within
the hour. For a general time schedule, take a look at: http://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/index.htm
From Shanghai
to Suzhou
If you are in
Shanghai and want to catch a train back to Suzhou, it is almost
the same procedure. Check out the counter on the very right
hand side of the ticket office. This used to offer services
to foreigners. However, do not expect the clerk to speak English.
If you say "Suzhou" and "Weizi" (Chinese
word for seat), they will usually understand you.
There is also a shuttle
bus connection from the Shanghai railway station to the Pudong
airport. The buses drive every half hour from 5:00 a.m. until
22:30 p.m. to the airport. The buses are very comfortable
and it takes between one hour and a half to the airport. If
you need a pick up service from Shanghai airport or need to
go to Shanghai airport, please contact us.
Last train from Shanghai
to Suzhou leaves at 23:48 at Shanghai Main Station. The morning
trains start at 3 a.m.
