Suzhou Restaurants
With over 5,000 different types of dishes, the Chinese kitchen is on eof the world's most diversified ones. When coming to China, one needs to be aware that the international Chinese kitchen can vary from the national one. So don't expect dishes to taste the same as the ones back home.

In Suzhou, as in most other Chinese cities, you have a huge choice of restaurants on nearly every street. Therefore, the restaurants mentioned here are mainly places where specialties of all kinds are served.

Guangdong Kitchen
Specialties include large selection of seafood items and are usually non-spicy. Many restaurants showcase tanks of live fish, shrimp, crab, eel, lobsters etc. for your selection. Dim Sum is served during lunch hours and is a wonderful way to enjoy a variety of dumplings, meatballs, buns, custards, congees, noodles, fried rice etc.

Huaiyang (Shanghai/Jiangsu/Zhejiang) Kitchen
Well known for vegetarian food and sweet food.

Shandong Kitchen
Fresh seafood is the basis of this kitchen. Soya sauce is used in most dishes. Their Mongolian Fire Pot is well-known throughout China

Sichuan Hunan Kitchen
Very spicy dishes as well as sour hot soups, noodle dishes and hot tofu.

Beijing Kitchen
The most famous dish is Beijing Duck. Another famous dish is Baozi, a yeast dumpling filled with vegetables or meat. Baozi dumplings are comparable to the Swabia filled pasa squares.
